With Harkin & Carter’s Mister Saturday Night venture having grown to become an NYC institution - 250 parties down since 2009, worldwide pedigree and a label that has fronted many seminal releases - the time feels right for the duo to collect their thoughts. The pair have drawn for a few tracks that have, at various times, been MSN favourites, and the selections are unsurprisingly impeccable. The bulky middle of the album explores all facets of house, from the acid-bongo groove of Dennis Ferrer’s ‘The Red Room’ to FaltyDL’s hardcore-flecked ‘Hardcourage’. The album is ushered in with the sensual ‘Tezeta’ (Menelik Wossenachew and Mulatu Astatke) and Soul Bros Inc’s ‘Pyramid’, while at the back end we close out with two exquisite disco cuts.
