From the Keysound camp we get the third in their Rollage sub-series, and this one is proper dark. Blackdown takes the name for ‘C-troit’ from a coinage he made in the early days of Dubstep, one meant to nod to both Detroit and Croydon in a manner similar to Pinch’s game-changing ‘Croydon House’. It provides a good gauge for the uninitiated as to what to expect from the four tracks here, though with so much having gone down on the UK’s dancefloors since dubstep’s golden era the influences come thick and fast on C-troit. Along with the half-times we hear garage, doom-techno, UK funky and slasher-flick keys.
