Move D & Thomas Meinecke continue a collaboration started almost two decades ago with their latest album On The Map for Kassem Mosse's Ominira imprint.

The five tracks mapped out here are described by Ominira as "exploring the history of black music and culture in five US cities,". This is portrayed between excellent renditions of funk, jazz and classic R&B folded into a mixture of guitar, trumpets, drums and beautifully combined spoken word passages that stem from citizens from the different cities explored. These range from spoken testimonies about place and politics to reflective vocals that float elegantly in the mix.

An album that never ceases to amaze with each spin.
