The second release on Lobster Theremin sub-label Distant Hawaii from Manchester producer Hidden Spheres refines many of the things that made his first outing ‘Waiting’ such a joy. The sonic palette is somewhere between Balearic, jazzy house in debt to Moodymann and the feeling of euphoria you get from the sunrise at the end of the party. ‘Beachy’ in particular is a masterclass in how to put a few spare melodies and drum patterns together to beautiful effect, all leading up to a soft-focus climax of distant 808s and woozy synth-strings.
