Gerd’s latest EP is named Planet F.M.D.X. after the Yamaha DX100 synthesiser that these tracks were conceived on. It’s fitting that the Dutch producer should pay homage to this particular piece of equipment - the F.M.D.X.’s chunky bass tones, ethereal chords and alien-transmission percussive sounds bring real character to Gerd’s deep house style. Planet F.M.D.X. Part 1 also sees its title-track diced up two ways - one with a rattling 909 in tow, the other a more cautious and slightly Balearic ‘Mix 707’.
