Bankheads’ roster grows stronger and weirder by the week - you can only be thankful. André Abel and Joana da Conceição, are a Portuguese pair behind the experimental outfit Tropa Macaca. Macaca dropped a 12” single for Daniel Lopatin’s Software label (Ectoplasma) and cut a startling 2013 LP, Praga De Urubu Só Pega Em Cavalo Magro. Here they return to our (sub)consciousness with this Trilogy four tracker of sideways samples, abstract rhythm manipulation, Latin-flecked musique concrete and bristling groove-not-groove. Like Beatrice Dillon trapped in a studio with Villalobos… forever.
