Uwe Schmidt, aka Atom TM, continues his Audio Archive label where he plans to release the entirety of his back-catalogue, complete with unreleased treats. ’Orange (Monochrome Stills)' was originally released in 1994 but contains a choice of high quality cuts which merit revisiting 20 years later. ‘Ode to BG’ is beautifully taut in its use of the bare minimum of elements, dominated by a dubby analogue attack which recalls Shed’s work on ‘The Traveller’. ‘Rainecho’ poignantly subdues Berlin techno elements before allowing Shackleton-esque bongos to dominate, but the ambient epic ‘Cobal (2)’ comes most highly recommended, allowing Schmidt’s analogue sounds vital breathing space.
