Canadian indie rock outfit The Besnard Lakes break their three-year LP deadlock with A Coliseum Complex Museum on familiar outpost Jagjaguwar. Constructed with their usual exceptional production standards, A Coliseum Complex Museum is an ode to nature, drawing influence from the beautiful secluded Lake and piecing together emotionally inflicted, guitar-driven psychedelia. Opening pair ‘The Bray Road Beast’ and ‘Golden Lion’ play on a dreamy rhetoric of mythical beasts, with lush guitar chords and epic choruses, whilst ‘Towers Sent Her To Sheets Of Sound’ shifts into a more hallucinatory mood with its squirming guitar picks and heavy, drugged drumming.
