Crucial instalment in the Highlife series from Glasgow’s Auntie Flo, finally landing down –in a blur- on vinyl here on Bleep. Here, Auntie Flo joins up with Esa and the pair engage in some pan-African revelry. During a period at East African music conference DoaDoa in Jinja in 2014, Esa was exposed to a new breed of talent and ideas emerging from East Africa and beyond; meeting musicians from Burundi, Rwanda, Kenya and South Africa. The results of these gatherings are laid-bare, deep in these grooves, an exercise in the finest minds from Uganda. The rhythms are a vital reinvigoration of the 1980s Masekela driven African sound, pumped hard into bold new electronic territory for a new generation of producers and dancers.
