More computer music for hooligans, this time released through Bus. While previous releases from this operation have existed more on the side of danceable – Opus17a is more likely to magnetically drag you towards a digitalised black hole than it is any kind of dancefloor. A fizzy, acid-tinged melee of hyperactive grooves, clipped beats, cerebral soundscapes all maximised by the skilful mastering of vinyl master Noel Summerville. It’s extreme, unrelenting and discordant but somehow listening to EVOL’s latest offering in full is a strangely rewarding experience. An exercise in sheer velocity.
