Constellations present this brand new long-player from Montreal baroque rock ensemble Esmerine. This troop of creative multi-instrumentalists fronted up by Godspeed You! Black Emperor’s Bruce Cawdron and Rebecca Foon of Thee Silver Mt. Zion float between rich desert rock, stark minimalism and intricate math rock on Lost Voices in a style that never loses a sense of soaring cinematic grandeur. Cawdron uses a range of mallet instruments while Foon’s cello provides a framework for the other contributors to build from. The whole LP is an evocative, and hugely rewarding journey, especially on cuts like Pas Trop Pas Tropes where detail takes a backseat and simple, effective melody comes to the fore.
