South London imprint, Hear Other Sounds (previous matter from Ben Hauke, Fresh Paul, Charlux, Nomis) head through the South Downs to the Coast for their 12th release. This time out is mysterious producer J-One. Or Simon Jones as he’s known to his mum. 2-step drum patterns rain heavy here; expertly programmed into a sweltering bump and move. Elsewhere (on the sinewy ‘Hold Up’) J-One tweaks the 808 into fibrous shapes and on the grinding ‘Bodied’ we get dancehall ghosts mangled headfirst into the garage rhythm dynamic. Big tip if you’re feeling the London sounds of Get Some, Solitude, Butterz family, Maribor Music and the Keysound lineage.
