Australian ambient mastermind Lawrence English and his Room 40 imprint present a reissue of his 2011 gem The Peregrine. Inspired by and named after the eponymous 1967 non-fiction book by English author John Alec Baker, the dated track titles equate to the chapters — they describe the doings of the peregrine falcons and document the process of the author becoming one with the birds. Much like his literary equivalent, English subjects his field recordings to transformation, and his slowly unfolding soundscapes translate to the evocative nature of Baker’s writing.
