Newley started label Noise Manifesto was set up by techno producer Paula Temple to provide a "platform for electronic music artists that do not follow the distorted norms". This veritable showcase of off-centre electronica talents adheres to that mission statement perfectly. Bringing together the inimitable talents of rRoxymore, The Knife's Oni Ayhun, Planningtorock (as Aquarian Jugs) and Paula Temple as Jaguar Woman, this release is a unified statement of intent. No one track is credited to any artist in particular. Whether it is the polyrhythmic bleep-techno of DR1-4 or the more eyes-down headiness of DR1-2, Recon #1 is clearly a group effort and a bewildering yet truly rewarding listen.
