Emerging from the murkiest marshes of East Manchester, local lord Ste Spandex launches a new sonic adventure under the name Cerberus Future Technologies with this handy cassette the first in a hopefully long line of tangible artifacts. Frequency Adjustments Volume 1 is a direct nod to some of the mutant life forms that have spewed out of Jamal Moss’ hardware over the years, each piece threaded with its own personality and guaranteed to leave a big, smoldering hole on the dance floor. It’s coagulated hardware rot from the off with the throbbing, coarse weapon ‘900 Skulls’ swiftly pursued by all-out analogue annihilation on ‘Pussy Gon Cum’ and ravaged 80’s disco styles on ‘Drone Squad’. One of the deeper moments comes on ‘Morning Camp Hero’ where the scathed, overdriven chords coalesce into a semi-melodic smog and whilst this piece of mechanical discharge is credited to the mysterious Montauk Boys, we have our suspicions that all such singularly depraved constructions must all be the work of Spandex’s devious alter egos.
