Basel-based producer Mehmet Aslan lands on Huntleys + Palmers with an EP honouring his Turkish roots. As co-founder of the Family Affairs party in Basel he has hosted the likes of Moodymann or Drumtalk. Following a few singles on Highlife, Mechanical Turk is his first coherent release: it fuses a hint of oriental harmonies, looped into hypnotic repetition with club-focused beats. On the title track, this comes in the form of dancing flute sequences and wiggling synth melodies paired with a house-infused rhythm.
