Baio, also known as long-time Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio, makes his Club Mod debut with a pair of life-affirming house tracks for the Australian imprint. ‘ON&ON&ON&ON’ layers finely diced vocal melodies, sunny synths and resonant bass over crisp, jacking percussion, the result enough to stir up warm feelings in even the most jaded listener. ‘Missive’ goes a bit deeper, the mesmerizing bass line and wailing sample combining for hypnotic effect. Swedish producer HNNY realigns Baio’s vocal snippets with fluttering low-end on his ‘ON&ON&ON&ON’ rework, while UK house head Neville Watson takes ‘Missive’ skyward, adding starry synths and infectious 4/4 rhythms.
