Detroit veteran Rolando drops another EP with new original material on his own R3 Roland Rocha imprint. Launched in spring 2014, the label was set up by the now Edinburgh-based producer in order for him to have total control over his output. Having released legendary work as The Aztek Mystic for the Underground Resistance collective in Detroit, his authentic production approach extends to the sound of his recent releases: Hot Box is a techno classic informed by its US-American roots, its hi-hats soft against the backdrop of a rumpled beat. The B-side resumes the emphasis on the rhythm while Rolando adds a melodious touch with a breathy, dancing synth line.
