Hull-based house producer Kendrix debuts on Slime Recordings with a genre blurring EP, marking the label’s 113th release. While ‘Buddha’ settles for classic house hi-hats, claps and a simple, processed vocal sample, ‘Wasteman’s’ textures are rather broken, its synth carpets ambient. Both ‘Buddha’ and ‘Babylon’ shine with their well produced bassy synth lines, embodying deep house’s best elements. With Distant, Kendrix displays not only his sense for timing and texture, but also that he knows how to combine different influences to a coherent, thrilling sound.
