Various Productions drops the debut release from shadowy UK group Hardware (try googling that one). ‘Checking One’ takes jungle tempos and strips away any and all unnecessary filler, the simplest of sounds used for percussive purposes, simple, flanged synths stabbing off beat for maximum jerk and head-nod. ‘Your Move’ is - allegedly - a rework of a lost 90s drum & bass number of the same name by Pager B-TZ. Frantic rhythms and clangs meet wide, snarling stabs, a basic yet invigoratingly modern take on the genre.
