London-based bass music producer and Wheel & Deal Records signing LX One seems to be a firm advocate of the old adage “quality over quantity.” With an output release rate that could be best described as slow and steady, his previous double a-sides have nevertheless garnered the praise of the UK dance music scene’s usual suspects, including Distance, Youngsta, J:Kenzo, Icicle and Rinse FM DJ N-Type. ‘Reflect/Distorted Politics’ continues where the London producer left off with ‘Losing Control/On My Own’ and ‘You/Give It Up’, with the tracks’ stalking minimalism and sharp eye for detail. ‘Reflect’ is deployed with pin-sharp precision and a laid-back groove, while ‘Distorted Politics’ cavernous architecture is perfect material for late-night headphone sessions.
