Bristol’s Applebottom steps up for Zed Bias’s newly minted Biasonic label with a pair of monster house anthems. The upstart producer, real name Joe Arthur, has quite the knack for crafting epically proportioned bangers that steamroll their way across genres and styles in search of the perfect groove. ‘Licked’ may be his finest work yet, a funky swinger with death defying drops centred on an electric diva vocal, classic house piano and elastic sub-bass. Spacey flipside ‘Knock It Like That’, while a touch less busy, still sports enough low-end and rolling drum work to give partygoers a reason to get moving.
