Will Bankhead’s Trilogy Tapes label continues to gather pace, this time debuting Dave Huismans’ A Made Up Sound guise with the Night Owl EP. Through either his 2562 or A Made Up Sound guise, Huismans has always known what makes a dance floor tick, here is no different with opener ‘Fortress (The Hague, 2005)’ a crisp stomper that harks back to the classic Bunker Records sound. Next up is ‘Caustic Network’, keeping things off balance with a drifting acid pattern and organ chords whereas ‘Kovaxxxt’ centres on a spacious stop/start drum beat that never settles. Finally we land on the hyped up, repetitive workout of ‘Situation’ where the driving beat only gives way for the ingenious use of a David Bowie sample that gives the cut even more charisma.
