Gizeh Records presents a split LP of gorgeous ambient/electronica from Loscil and frequent collaborators Fieldhead. Loscil, Vancouver producer Scott Morgan favours droning, shapeless soundscapes here, like pensive opener ‘Fury’ and the dreamy, looping electronics of ‘With Northerly Winds’. The contributions from Fieldhead, Leeds’s Paul Elam and violinist Elaine Reynolds, are slightly more defined structurally. On ‘Home’, skeletal drums form a solid backbeat that builds to a satisfying climax, while on standout ‘Northumberland’, looped guitar and vocal samples and Reynolds’s stirring violin cut through the hazy ambience.
