Released in 1963, The Small World of Sammy Lee was a classic London crime movie, casting a light on the seedy underground world of Soho. What made the film all the more potent was the classy jazz score composed and performed by Kenny Graham. Opening piece 'Soho At Dawn' is a slow, soft, gentle piece that sets the scene of the sleazy Soho streets whereas 'Dash To Bellman's' carries a confident swagger with catchy hand drums and an energetic double bass lead. Graham's Afro Cuban roots come through on 'And None Of Your Horse Manure' marking a more up-beat moment on a truly original and charismatic jazz film score.
