Kresy’s third EP and first for Irish label Freerange doesn’t welch on the promises made by ‘Lords of Percussion’ and ‘Basement Trax’: more ethereal but club-friendly house beats that’ll sweep the most flat-footed of listeners up into the lasers. ‘Sweet Dangerous MCs’ weaves airy pads around a thudding techno beat and boisterous vocal samples, the drowsy/late night vibe like a less frantic version of DJ Rashad’s footwork LP ‘Double Cup’. ‘Midnight in Manhattan’ blends cool house pianos with a colourful acid beat, while ‘Last Cocktail of Stallone’ is truly as fun as it sounds, its head-bobbing keyboards set to a drum line that rattles like a kicked tin can. More than enough to tide you over until the album finally materialises.
