Alight is the new project from UK producer Throwing Snow (who also makes up one half of Snow Ghosts). His work under this new alias takes a more expansive turn with this extended EP for Local Action. Opening track Obelisk bristles with cutting, dubbed-out noise before twisting itself into a steady, aquatic techno stomp interspersed with passages of stilling atmospheres. 'Darqa' begins in beatless layers of windswept voices before hits of tranquilized bass cut in. Title track Iridis is the highlight though, a tumultuously evolving piece of gritted noise and knotted industrial bass that contrasts ethereal and punchy elements effortlessly before taking a surprising turn into junglist hyper-kinetic drama.
