Through his storied career in electronic music Leon Vynehall has always cleverly pushed things forward with one eye fixated on the past. In fact, nostalgia is in many ways the key to his work, and that was never more true than on his beloved Music For The Uninvited LP, which now turns 10 in 2024. A love letter to the early rave mixtape era, the album gives the feel of a scrawled-upon, well-loved, and endlessly rewound cassette. This anniversary edition on his own Studio Ooze imprint adds pageantry and fanfare for sure, but crucially retains the tape hiss and digital detritus so essential to its romantically ramshackle charm. Bonus of-the-era tracks ‘Palaces’ and ‘Blues’ only add to its legend, making this a must-have for all the maudlin house heads out there.
