Hans Zimmer was so engrossed in the scoring of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune that he released three different soundtracks for it in 2021, and started work on the next chapter before development for the sequel had even begun. Three years later, the story continues in Part Two, a culmination of the sci fi epic’s latest adaptation. Churning sands are rendered through trickling sonic grains, guttural brass, and coarse bassy strings. Blissful new age ambience and classical arrangements sift through the ruckus of intense battle scenes scored by industrial metal clangs, where tribal drums and desert winds mesh with hints of grand sci fi synths.
