With countless compilations tracking the origins of British dance music having cropped up in the past few years, Blank Mind founder Sam Purcell and Dutch producer Tammo Hesselink offer up their recollection of the ecstatic side of breakbeat hardcore with Lost Paradise. While these tracks focus on breezier textures, they’re no less hard hitting: L.D’s woozy ‘Age of Aquarius’ remix sprays with tearing rhythms and geysers of choirs, Parameters’ ‘Hedgehog Affair’ struts with a bouncing four to the floor till frothing breaks come in, and ‘Escape (The Optical Mix)’ is the definition of blissed out with frosty melody, synth strings, and thrumming bass.
