In what now seems like an almost inevitable pairing given their similar outsider origins, Scaring the Hoes marks the blistering debut collaboration between JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown. With the title referencing a self parodying meme of the non conformist nature of both their outputs, even by these standards Scaring the Hoes pushes the envelope one step further across its 14 unrelenting tracks. Seemingly in the pursuit of joyful nihilism to actually embrace the party ending, aural abrasion stance, in fact the album's true success is that it also simply renders the joke as redundant to begin with. With some of Brown and JPEGMAFIA's most scathing flows the album was also produced entirely by JPEG, who sums it up with: "For about a year i practiced with the SP-404. im proud that i got to make some fire sh*t from the time i spent with this machine & my favorite rapper. You can call this a practice session. This is what we would sound like in the 90s with no pro tools. Im done using the 404 now."
