Nikki Nair makes his Warp Records debut with collaborative EP Set The Roof, his rough and raw rhythms colliding perfectly with Hudson Mohawke’s zipping and zapping electronics. These tracks fly through jubilant, energetic, disco-infused house, cinematically styled breakcore slashes, and everything in between. Balanced on the title track’s brick wall beats are crunchy two step rhythms, glittery synths and chimes, and a grimy bass wobble. ‘Long Ago’ throws happy hardcore eruptions in between bright, glitchy buildups, while ‘Wait A Minute’ immediately commands attention with audacious vocal samples slamming beats.
