Caterina Barbieri’s light-years label introduces its first new artist with gyroscopic synthetic visions. Marta De Pascalis hones intense expressions over minimalist Yamaha CS60 compositions, showing there’s deep futurism and catharsis to be mined out of every instrument. Each track is its own magnetising, active landscape: the guttural shreds and saws and serrations of ‘Glider’, the plunge and laceration of ‘Làsciati’, and the expanding waves of ‘Harmonices Infinity’, a salve for the great, passionate fire the rest of the album has burned. Stripped back yet no less raw, Sky Flesh has all its sinews on display, visceral yet celestial as its title implies.
