An educational offering from Spectrum Spools with ‘Translations 01’. Michael Pollard produces two ‘Material’ studies, two ‘Spatialisation’ studies and finally a pencil rubbing which constitutes the album cover. A variety of recordings including a stereo hydrophone buried under sand in a lake, but at the same time there’s a sense of playfulness to the work as it also (unintentionally) includes the sounds of Pollard’s brother throwing firecrackers into the water.
