1968 release ‘White Light / White Heat’ was the legendary second LP from the influential New York group The Velvet Underground. With the group consisting of Lou Reed, John Cale, Sterling Morrison and Maureen Tucker, ‘White Light / White Heat’ pulled together a forward thinking mix of grimy avant-garde rock in a matter of days, launching strains of punk, industrial and ambient music in its wake. Countless rock sub-genres can trace their routes back to classics such as the gritty 'I Heard Her Call My Name' and the extended, epic 'Sister Ray' which perfectly exhibit Reed’s flamboyant vocals coupled with a noisy rock backdrop.
