Laurel Halo officially launches her own Awe imprint with its inaugural release: a new full length LP of hazy jazz ambience and electroacoustic music entitled Atlas. Written largely during Halo’s residency at Paris’ Ina-GRM Studios, Atlas sees the Los Angeles-based musician/composer work her way back to the piano, sketching vivid (and somewhat pastoral, even) ambient murmurs and breath-taking swells of sound with little rhythmic interference. Built up simply from pianos, acoustic guitars, and strings, tracks like ‘Late Night Drive’ and ‘Reading The Air’ are among the quietest in Halo’s oeuvre, but certainly no less moving.
