On her remix of ‘Lion Song’ taken from Björk's latest masterpiece Vulnicura, English composer Mica Levi strips the Icelandic singer from her most identifying element: removing the vocals, the remix is dubbed ‘Kareokieijd’ and comes with a karaoke lyric video. Levi takes the spare string part at the end of the original as a starting point for her instrumental reinterpretation of the song. The sound emulates a full string orchestra, the cellos embracing moving depth. Even without the desperately hopeful vocals, she manages to convey equally as much emotional intensity, the bows making their passionate crescendo movements, recreating the painful melody in all-encompassing ways.
