The stylistic twists and turns of Andrew Hung know no bounds; a musician as adept at ear-pleasing pop (see 2017’s Realisationship) as he is at psyche-melting drone (see any of Fuck Buttons’ output), Hung has also found fruitful pursuits in scoring a slew of strange indie movies over the years. Devastations seems to combine the disparate parts of his sound(s) into yet another unexpected whole. ‘Wave’ has something of Talk Talk about it; a lumbering drum beat measured out against an ascendant piano line and a guitar twang, Hung’s vocal weaving in and out of shape with a Jarvis Cocker croon.
