Ethix - Breakin' Bad. Bleep.

Tokyo based Ethix has been hiding out in the Asian metropolis for the last 10 years making a name for himself in the world of liquid Drum and Bass, Ã‚Â recording for the likes of Fubar, Rubik and Hospital. After hearing his Pacific Steppaz remix last autumn we managed to track down the elusive DJ/Producer to record a number for us, the result was Breakin' Bad and there was really no doubt in our minds that this would have to be the second release on Meanubucket, alongside an all star team of remixers!

Breakin' Bad still has a definate Drum & Bass influence but with a tempo mellowed to a more garage related 136 BPM. The deep, deep subbass, break beats, soundscapes and vocal samples are reminicent of jungle's golden era without sounding out of place in today's post garage movement. Ã‚Â Totally compatible with the likes of J*y rbisn or the hugely exciting players of the Bristol scene, Breakin'Bad is just as at home on the rain soaked streets of London as in the bustling neon washed highways of the Eastern Megacity. Dancefloor futurism at it's finest!

NYC based Proper Villains tackles the first remix, his earlier releases this year were so good we knew we had to have him on boardJoined by Fool's Gold boss Nick Catchdubs they have pumped up the original for slinky late night club play, ditching the old skool jungle influence for an early 90's house feel while never losing the original vibe. One for a sweaty 3am in front of the big speakers! Ã‚Â

The last remix goes to one of the sickest talents coming out of the Czech Republic right now! Side9000 has been busy with his own production of late making serious moves on the underground bass scene in europe. He took the time out to give us a remix, which to describe as a dubstep remix would just be lazy. Ã‚Â This is light years away from the obvious wobble and stomp of the average release and instead takes a 2-step over the atlantic to Detroit. Deep!
