We can’t exactly say why an image of London Bridge felt most appropriate for the sleeve of Jarren’s Antera; the LA-based musician and DJ string of self-released projects near the back end of the 2010s have continually invoked a sunnier continent; palm tree adorned spots lucky enough to consistently bask in weather suitable for convertibles. But the ice cool slickness of Jarren’s R&B electronica has always had a harder house edge than most, as these recordings serve to show. It’s all chiming jazz organ, squelching G-funk bass and effortless good-time beats — enough to make Dâm-Funk green with envy.
