Merge Records presents Second Line by Dawn Richards - the rising star coming out of New Orleans, with a sound embedded in a much longer lineage. Second Line has at its core the essence of the many multi-generational styles which make up her musical identity - Louisiana Creole culture, Orleans jazz, Dirty South swag. Richards fuses these elements with the more contemporary styles of house, footwork and RnB to create an unapologetically original and supremely confident concoction. Having done everything from cheerleader for the New Orleans Hornets through to vegan pop-up store owner, her super-fresh sound has been years in the making.
