Kingston, Jamaica’s eminent collective of innovative dancehall Equiknoxx team up with US newcomers Feel Free Hi Fi for a banger-fuelled disc of tunes and dubs. As is the case for both musical entities, the approach on Equiknoxx and Feel Free Hi Fi is beautifully simple and hugely impactful; the bass rattles the bones, the percussion shoots at the feet and the unique, MIDI-flavoured tones prick at the mind. Each dub version of these songs offers a considerably different experience from its original counterpart, bubbling at one moment and languishing in space the next, but naturally, dancefloor bombast is always key.
