BABii further explores her unique sonic universe on her latest LP for Iglooghost’s Gloo imprint (with whom she has frequently collaborated in the past). Fractured, glassy productions set the soundscapes for her whispered, nymph-like vocals to inhabit. Dealing with emotional themes of breakup and loss throughout, the record presents a moment of realisation and clarity reflecting on the “labyrinth of bewildering emotions” with undeniable pop sensibilities. Perhaps indebted to the expansive experimental soundworlds created by the likes of of Arca, FKA Twigs, Kelly Lee Owens and Grimes, while setting a new trajectory for escapism.
