Craigie Knowes offshoot C-KNOW-EVIL welcomes Detroit-based producer Wheez-ie to the fold for the imprint’s third release. Evil seems entirely appropriate for this disc, as Wheez-ie offers a deliciously dark take on body-shaking breaks, bloody synth stabs and an overall sense of dread. ‘Only Human’ starts on a classy UK rave break before a foreboding vocal sample — “dodge this” — opens up the mix into some heavy menace. Meanwhile, ‘Weaponized’ shouts down the police state with yet another break-neck speed rhythm.
