Having returned with her first album for almost four decades (!) back in 2016, 60s English folk revivalist Shirley Collins doesn’t leave us waiting nearly as long for the follow-up. New LP Heart’s Ease shimmers with the warmth that has long been found in Collins’ music, bringing together a selection of covers and original compositions in the trilling harmonies and forthright delivery that has long been a signature of the folk revival movement. Records like Heart’s Ease draw a line between the work of artists like John Martyn and modern practitioners such as Laura Marling.
