Having previously provided the rhythmic backbone to Warp favourites Red Snapper‘s much loved outings in the early 2000s, Richard Thair and Jakeone’s own Toob project sprung into life in 2005 The album is preceeded by a taster EP with three tracks: The opener "Clipto" sees Jakeone and new vocal partner Wendy Stubbs riding a punk funk bassline and live drums to create an intoxicating new-wave brew that’ll work for indie kids and DFA lovers alike. Track 2 “Mr Brown“ see’s things slow right down with a lilting, dubby feel and spacey Basic Channel style synths complementing Wendy’s ethereal vocals.
