Recorded with dub reggae grandaddy Lee Perry, Congolese artists Seskain Molenga and Kalo Kawongolo release perhaps the most psychedelic reggae record of the 1970s. Originally released via Sonafric in 1979, with original pressings fetching silly money on online record market places (if they’re available at all, that is), Roots From The Congo is a deeply hypnotic and by turns minimal and swinging slice of reggae, a singular effort from two enigmatic artists (with little to no other releases to their name) bolstered by a production prowess that ensures it ranks among the classics.
