It’s time to take out the trash — trash meaning bad music, that is. Ivan Mašić aka ExPonto does everyone a solid and delivers on a stellar post-rave hootenanny on his bodacious debut LP. Neka Neka takes the sounds of Mašić’s formative years — namely Melbourne’s mid-1990s club scene, as well as Kate Bathgate’s selections on 3RRR community radio — and reinstates communal essences (think drum circles till morning light, the family accordion wheezing out another singalong) and transforms them into bizarre musical landscapes.
