Plaid recorded a few sessions for the John Peel Show down the years, but their second appearance back in 1999 probably ranks as the most unique. These four tracks don’t appear on any of the band’s studio LPs - even the Rest Proof Clockwork full-length Plaid also issued in 1999. All of the jams here are the sort of chirruping IDM and downtempo cuts we’ve come to expect from this most charming of groups. Broadcast once again as part of Warp’s WXAXRXP takeover of NTS Radio in the summer of 2019, Peel Session 2 has now been given an official release as the label celebrates its thirtieth birthday.
