The first thing that you notice about Yak’s Gerudo EP is how detailed the grooves are. While still operating in the same leftfield techno sphere as artists like Joe and Martyn, here the one born John Randall serves up a set of rhythm tracks which have detailed and multi-layered percussion at their core. From burbling opener ‘Zip’ to the lilting title-track that closes out Gerudo, everything on this record is a polyrhythmic delight.
